My phone went mad between the hours of 8 and 9am with calls/texts as to whether or not the ride was on. Suffice to say that the ride went ahead and from 0930 onwards we had pretty much unbroken sunshine.
A (somewhat mad bunch) of 14 turned out despite the weather, including five new riders to the club James, Roger, Simon, Paul, and Adam A Big Welcome to you all and hope to see you on some rides soon.
It was also nice to see some of the old hands back on the Easy ride, Diane the "Cake Lady", Bombhole Brian, Andy N, Millhouse, Sean, Ange and Dan P to name but a few....
Because of the weather the Seafront ride was On once again (though it never fails to please).
Think Millhouse may have set a club record for distance covered before breaking down, it must have been all of five meters before Millhouses chain snapped, however this was quickly fixed. Have to say at this point that we had another two chains snap on this ride, dont know if this was down to the very Gloopy conditions, riders with thighs the size of Arnold Sweatyknickers or just pretty bad bike maintenance. Lolol..
We made our way along the river and then up Sandy Lane (always gets the legs warmed up), a quick tour of Redhill Common and then off to Talbot Woods, Lots of fun over Talbot Heath (this time with no spillages), onwards to Branksome Chine Woods where we stumbled across some Fly Tippers who were duly reported to the Fuzz (interestingly the Police said it wasnt their problem but the councils, when i told them that it was dumped over some poor persons back garden fence they told me it wasnt the councils problem either but the landowners) Go Figure!!!!!!!
Along the Prom to the Caff stop and then home via the gardens, Pugs Hole (rooty as hell but great fun), Talbot Heath again and Talbot Woods and back to the Pub.
Thanks to all who turned out to join me on what turned out to be a Beautiful day.
And as a bit of an aside, Well done to Jo aka Digger, who spent her day at Castlepoint promoting the charity Help for Heroes, where Jo and her team collected a substantial wedge of cash for the Heroes.
