Where to buy disc pads in bulk?

Postby thefaller on Thu Dec 17, 2009 9:13 pm

Doing a lot of muddy rides lately.

Pads wearing out quicker.

Thinking about maybe buying more pairs in one go to get them cheaper.

Maybe 10 pairs at once?

Any ideas best place to try?

Yes Superstar are Supercheap, and I haven't had any probs with them.
They're also Superquick, I got mine next day, free postage :D

Cheapest option is to buy 10 - they don't make it obvious on the site, go to 'Special Codes' on left hand side of page, choose sintered or not, then put '10' in quantity box. Organic turn out £4.50 ea and sintered £5.35, not bad eh? You need to put in Comments box which brakes you want em for, and you can have a mix (as long as they're all sintered or all organic).
Best to have a look at the dropdown menus on the regular singles or 4pack options on 'Disc brake pads' (top of left hand side) page first so you can see if anything's out of stock etc.
If in doubt, give em a ring.

Other pages also worth a look while you're there. eg lock on grips, skewers...

Happy shopping! :P

Disco brakes are very good. I've had issues with the brake surface falling off the pad backplate on superstars and know that Neil finnes has too.

yes I can confirm what Pete's said - I've probably gone through 4 sets of sintered Superstar pads for Avid Juicy 5 brakes - pad falls off the metal backing plate and crumples in your hand. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, not cleaning too thoroughly after a wet muddy ride or something, but I don't get this problem with other brands.
Avid pads are ***kin fiddly to fit so maybe I've damaged them when inserting them for the 10th ***kin time after the ***kin spring has moved or they've not lined up properly. :)
