• Under 12 - 2 laps of a 1.3 mile short course - Start 8.30am - £3.00 in advance, £5.00 on the day.
• Under 16 - 2 laps of the full course - Start 9.00am - £8.00 in advance, £10.00 on the day.
• Have a go 16 + all welcome - 2 laps full course - Start 10.00am - £8.00 in advance, £10.00 on the day.
• The main event (WXCRL counting event) 2 hour enduro - Start 11.30am - £15.00 in advance, £18.00 on the day.

Race Description:

After a great race last year to the credit of our own Dave Goddard you will be racing on a now well established course. With no one single sponsor this is a race giving every opportunity for our local bike shops to support a local event and see what their customers get up to with the goods once they leave the shop. Also it will let the public meet the shop staff out of the shop, and see what they can do.
Hopefully they will all approve and not nod their heads in dismay!!

Its a race to give everybody a chance to have a go and encourage younger riders into the sport. It’s a course without being too intimidating, with a mixture of flowing single track and fast paced trails.

Basically all are welcome.

Five separate categories are being held. At 8.30, we will kick off with the under 12s with 1 lap of a 2.6 mile course, the under 16s will go of at 9am, followed by the “have ago” event at 10am - a taster for anyone who would like to experience a cross-country race but for whom the two hour race looks a bit intimidating. This race is open to anyone over the age of 16.
At 11.30am we start the the main race, a two hour enduro over a 5 mile course. This also includes a single speed category. This main race also counts for the Wessex Cycle Racing League which means WXCRL members finishing in the top 15 get points.

For those keen to check out the course before the start of the main race, it will be possible to pre-ride the course once the kids race has finished, from around 9.00am.

Important:

Please be aware, the course has been approved by the Forestry Commission after great care has been taken with the choice of trails. There are many parts of Wareham Forest classified as SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest ). Please keep to the marked course whilst either sighting or racing to ensure the sensitive and in some parts unique environment is not damaged.

First Aid:

First aid cover will be provided by the St. John Ambulance.

Facilities:

Port- a-loos will be on site, but no showers. We also aim to provide basic catering, tea and home made cakes. Maybe a bit more.
